Ellen Sandel

I am a life long lover of art. While I considered a BFA at YSU, instead pursued a BA in Special Ed, with specializations in Spanish and Italian, and finally an MA in counseling. After 45+ years of teaching/counseling, I rediscovered my love of both making and enjoying art.

Through classes at the YMCA, I built upon my skills in acrylic and watercolor, and dabbled in Encaustic and alcohol ink. I now feel comfortable participating in art shows while I continue my art education.

I’ve parlayed my love of art into working as a docent at the Butler Museum of American Art. There I can share my love and appreciation with both novices and aficionados alike.

When not in art class or giving museum tours, I enjoy working out at the Davis Family YMCA where I also teach Spanish classes. Spending time with my daughter and meeting friends for dinner round out my life.
