Davis Family YMCA hosts several art shows throughout the year, with a range of themes and inclusiveness.
From 2013-2024, FIVE Squared invited artists of all ages to donate 5″ x 5″ art, sold to help fund the ARTreach program.
Replacing that show beginning in 2025, FS/PS: aka Postscript, will be a hybrid of FIVE Squared and BIKWIL .
But I Know What I like is a juried show, judge by non professionals, with proceeds funding the Patterson Memorial Art Scholarship for adults with neurological disabilities.
In the summer, the Purple Cat clients show their work in the Cat’s Meow art show. The Opening Reception features not only art for show and sale, but also music by the incomparable Feral Cats band and poetry readings by TheatriCats theater group.
Each spring, the YMCA preschool classes visit the art studio to create their self portraits. The paintings are framed and hung at the Gallery at the Y in the lobby. Parents and friends are invited to an Opening Reception, complete with programs and refreshments.
